This small town (Healdsburg) is the jewel of California Wine Country "The distinctive year-round destination with just over 11,000 residents is a true epicurean hot spot with an extremely charming town square, around which some of its best hotels, restaurants, and shops sit, not to mention approximately 40 tasting rooms." August 2023
Conde Nast Traveler "21 Best Places to Go in 2021" "Head to Healdsbug, a hamlet in the heart of Sonoma County known for its small-town charm and world-class food and wine."
Celebrating 20 years of Culinary Adventures
October 2023 marks 20 years for Relish Culinary! Starting off as the Relish Culinary School in October 2003 and working with then-business partner Teresa Brooks, we hosted our first cooking experience at a private Dry Creek Valley home with chef Renaud Kolpin, then chef at Bistro Ralph, featuring an all-grilling menu of Grilled Caesar Salad, Maple-Brined Pork Chops with Persimmon Relish and a Grilled Apple Crisp (a menu that has held up well, I must say). The cost was $65.
Flash forward through going solo (Teresa is approaching 20 years of teaching), a name change (to Relish Culinary Adventures), a bricks and mortar event space (now closed after 15 years), a great recession and recovery, expanding into catering (no longer offering catering), expanding into private and corporate events (still a major part of the business), a global pandemic and (ongoing) recovery, to our current iteration—we have returned to our adventurous roots and our now offering events at scenic wine country locations. Whew! No wonder we're tired (and we're 20 years older)!
In the first 4+ years, we were entirely "roving", offering public classes at private homes, restaurants like Santi on closed days and Flying Goat Coffee after-hours, local farms (some with outhouses and no running water), and wineries (events in the Bella Wine Cave are unforgettable)—really anywhere who would have us. We've now returned to this model with a focus on private events at partner locations, but we are absolutely still offering some public classes...
...like WILD MUSHROOM FORAGING! This series continues to be super popular (we've been hosting mushroom foraging experiences for almost all of our 20 years, long before it was trendy) and we're hopeful for a great wild mushroom season.
Thank you all for the support and encouragement over the years and I look forward to seeing you in class!

Wild Mushroom Foraging
December - February dates are now posted!
We'll open more dates based on demand.
It's been raining and mushrooms are HAPPENING! It's predicted to be another wet season which is great for our local flora, including mushrooms. And it looks like it will be an early season with reports that winter mushrooms are already starting. So pick a date and come forage and eat with us! More info
