In March 2008, after more than four years offering only "roving" culinary events around Sonoma County, Relish opened the Relish Culinary Center, an event center and teaching kitchen in downtown Healdsburg. We host a wide variety of public and private events at the Center, including private cooking parties and winemaker dinners, team-building workshops and rehearsal dinners, and much more.
The Relish Culinary Center echoes the comfortable yet sophisticated style of the award-winning Hotel Healdsburg whose entrance is across the street. The Center has the feel of a modern farmhouse kitchen―unstained cement floors and corrugated brushed aluminum siding balanced with warm wood and neutral colors. The space is designed to accommodate a variety of events, from demonstration and hands-on cooking events to seminars and receptions, with state-of-the-art DCS home appliances, modern stainless sinks and fixtures, stone countertops and classically beautiful white oak cabinetry. We want to create a "wow" factor as you enter and, especially, cook in this gorgeous kitchen.
The Relish Culinary Center is a stylish and flexible space that is not only used for hands-on and demonstration culinary events, but also for private meals, parties and receptions, including rehearsal dinners, corporate dinners, birthday gatherings and other celebrations. The center seats up to 36 people classroom style for a demonstration event or seminar and up to 40 people banquet style for a lunch or dinner party. The capacity for a hands-on cooking event is 30 people, more if the weather allows us to use the outdoor kitchen. We are happy to provide catering services or you can rent the Center and bring in your own chef or caterer. And we will work with you to arrange rentals, decorations and other services as you need.
The Relish Culinary Center also has a beautiful outdoor kitchen for grilling, wood-fired cooking and al fresco dining. This outdoor area includes a Mugnaini Wood-Fired Oven (model Prima 120), built-in 48-inch DCS gas grill with storage cabinets, Gloster teak furniture, umbrellas and standing gas heaters. We used excess materials from the main building for a uniform post-industrial look that's quite different from the rustic wood-oven designs commonly seen around the wine country. We host many outdoor events between May and October so guests (you!) can enjoy the temperate weather of the area.
As an extension of our support for sustainable farming and local artisan producers, the Relish Culinary Center features a variety of green products and finishes such as locally-built kitchen cabinets featuring FSC-certified hardwood, no-added-formaldehyde plywood and low VOC finishes; locally manufactured tile in the kitchens and bathroom; bamboo multi-purpose tables; no VOC paint; low VOC, non-toxic floor sealant; recycled teak display cabinets; tankless water heaters; and more.
The center also includes an administrative office, unisex bathroom, and small commercial kitchen to meet heath department requirements for food storage, prep and clean-up.
