Relish Culinary Adventures stands out as the only “roving” culinary program that brings together talented chefs and fabulous cuisine at a variety of captivating wine country locations, including the beautiful Relish Culinary Center, to create one-of-a-kind hands-on and demonstration cooking experiences, culinary tours and catering services.
Based in Healdsburg, California, in the
heart of the Sonoma County wine country, Relish offers culinary events on a wide range of topics from wine country cuisine to ethnic specialties, DIY canning to children's cooking workshops, cheese making to wild mushroom foraging. In addition, Relish hosts activities that bring people together in the kitchen, such as private cooking parties and corporate team-building events. All of our events feature seasonal, locally-grown, locally-produced ingredients whenever possible, including olive oil, artisan cheeses, north coast seafood, farm fresh produce, locally-ranched meats, premium wines, handcrafted beers, and much more. Guests learn about the bounty of this wonderful region and experience a "sense of place" that is all about Sonoma County.
Most of our events happen at the state-of-the-art Relish Culinary Center in downtown Healdsburg, a stylish teaching kitchen and event space opened in the spring of 2008. We also turn into a "roving" cooking school when we offer culinary experiences at some of our favorite Healdsburg area locations, such as scenic vineyards, sustainable family farms and even the beautiful Sonoma Coast.
For each event, we thoughtfully match each location with a skilled chef and class theme, resulting in a unique “personality”. Most classes include a full meal of the featured recipes (no skimpy tastes here) paired with excellent local wines or beers specially selected for the menu.
Relish supports the bounty of local chefs,
wine experts and food purveyors in Sonoma County from whom we build an impressive list of class
In addition to our scheduled cooking classes, Relish offers unique catering services and private
cooking parties for groups and businesses, organizes culinary tours, is a
responsive operator for tour groups, and sponsors chef demonstrations at
a variety of culinary events in Sonoma County including the California Artisan Cheese Festivaland the Gravenstein Apple Fair.
|To explore the level of interest in a local culinary education
program, Relish began offering cooking classes in 2003 at a variety of locations
in and around Healdsburg, including private homes, wineries, art galleries,
cafes and farms. The concept of the "roving" cooking school was so popular,
Relish purchased a 1952 Chevy Panel Truck nicknamed "Julia" to transport equipment to the wide variety of scenic and
memorable wine country locations where some classes are offered.
Donna del Rey - Founder/Owner
Donna created Relish
Culinary Adventures to share the flavors and personalities of Sonoma County with
others. Her business background includes more than 20 years in various marketing
and business development roles for an industry-leading high tech company. An avid 'foodie' and adventurous home cook, Donna
thinks of herself like one of her customers. “A Relish event is so much more than a cooking class,"
says del Rey. "We combine fresh ingredients, a talented chef with
creative recipes, and a beautiful, unique location to create a convivial
culinary adventure that, hopefully, inspires guests to be more adventurous
in their own kitchen." After
two decades in
the Bay Area business world, Donna and her husband Jim Morris, who is
the General Manager of MacPhail Family Wines,
are a classic food (Donna) and wine (Jim) pairing.
Anne Cornell - Relish Chef
Anne's love of food and cooking began at age 10 in her family’s kitchen in Maine, helping her parents with a variety of culinary projects, including baking bread and grilling seafood. Upon graduating from the University of Southern Maine, she was off to the Cook Street School of Fine Cooking in Denver and international classes in Provence and Northern Italy. Chef Anne returned to Maine where she headed the kitchen at the Megunticook Golf Club, then moved west to cook at a variety of restaurants in Denver, Colorado. Drawn by the creativity of the culinary scene, she landed in San Francisco where she honed her wide-ranging skills in a variety of restaurant, catering, consulting and private chef positions. Anne moved to Sonoma County to be closer to the sources of some of the world’s best seasonal ingredients. She joined Relish in 2013 and has expanded its delicious culinary programs into new and unique areas.
Rennie Young - Event Manager
As Relish's primary Event Manager Rennie is responsible for event planning and execution and staffing. Rennie graduated from Sonoma State with a degree in wine marketing.
