So much of the food and wine culture of Sonoma County is inspired by Italy. Many of the original grape growers in the region were of Italian heritage—the terrain, weather and the scenic beauty reminded them of the old country. They settled here and planted grapes, olives, fruit and other foods that reminded them of their homeland. The similarities are so clear when you travel to Italy--I saw it clearly when I was in there in 2012 for the Slow Food Terra Madre conference & Salone del Gusto expo.
Yet there was something more, some deeper attraction to Italy for me. Maybe because the food culture reaches back in time so much further than here. The producers have been making their cheese/olive oil/wine/bread the same way for centuries with methods preserved from generation to generation. The historic richness of Italian food is something that needs to be experienced...in Italy.
Inspired by her 2012 trip, Relish founder Donna del Rey partnered with Let's Go Italy, an exclusive tour company offering a variety of themed tours to Italy, to create and market unique culinary tours to different regions of Italy. Please join us!

Our tour to the Piemontese region in northern Italy will include three exciting days at the Slow Food International food conference Terra Madre & Salone del Gusto, an overwhelmingly wonderful experience that combines talks and presentation on international food issues with a massive food expo of ultra-delicious and varied artisan Italian and international foods. In addition to the attending the conference, we've arranged a hosted visit to the Slow Food University of Gastronomic Sciences, a tour of the open air market (the largest in Europe) and other highlights in beautiful Torino, an exploration of the world class wines of the Piemonte region, meals, visits, tours and tastings with local artisans and cultural experts, and much, much more.
