Relish Culinary Adventures, Sonoma County's is partnering with Hotel Healdsburg, premier luxury lodging on Healdsburg’s historic town plaza, to offer this three-day Artisan Food and Wine Tour—an intimate (limited to 12 people) behind-the-scenes look at the hot Sonoma County food and wine scene. In addition to our exclusive tour activities, you will have ample free time to pamper yourself at the hotel spa, sample exceptional wine country restaurants, or just soak up the local color in the Healdsburg town plaza.
Day One: Welcome
The first evening we'll kick off our tour with
a welcome reception featuring regional wine and appetizers and created by chef
Michael Ellis, chef de cuisine at Charlie Palmer's Dry Creek Kitchen.
Get to know the other participants while sampling gourmet delicacies
made from local seasonal ingredients.
Day Two: Food
In the morning, we’ll venture to
Bellwether Farms, an sheep farm in west Sonoma County, for an exclusive
visit and tour with
owners Cindy and Liam Callahan during the morning cheese making. We’ll experience first-hand their passion for traditional cheese making
methods, see a variety of cheeses being made and, of course, enjoy tastes of
their award-winning sheep and cow milk cheese.
We’ll return to Healdsburg to the new Relish Culinary Center for a hands-on cooking workshop
with chef and food writer Kevin McKenzie.
Under Kevin's guidance, you'll create a four-course gourmet lunch, featuring
Bellwether cheese and other local produce, meat and seafood. We’ll share the
resulting feast for lunch with local artisan wines.
You’ll have the afternoon and
evening free to explore Healdsburg’s unique shops, restorative spas and
outstanding restaurants.
Day Three: Wine
In the morning,
we'll head straight to the vineyards with Vine Rover Tours for an open-air
jeep tour through hillside vineyards owned by Passalacqua Winery,
enjoying the spectacular views of the Russian River Valley below
and learning about grape growing
practices. After the tour, we'll experience a
private tasting of award winning
Passalacqua wines before we share a wine
country picnic lunch on the patio of Passalacqua Winery in Dry Creek
Valley.
After lunch, we'll head up the
valley to Lambert Bridge Winery, knownfor its luscious
Bordeaux-style blends, where you will become "winemaker
for a day." You will be given access to the winemakers' tools
for blending, bottling, corking and labeling
wine. Lambert Bridge Winemaker Jill Davis will lead you as you blend
barrel samples to create a bottle of your very own Bordeaux
blend cuvée to take home
as a wonderful memento from your visit. After the blending, you'll enjoy
a VIP tasting of Lambert Bridge wines before you return to the hotel for some free time before the evening's
dining experience.
That evening we’ll celebrate the
culmination of our food and wine adventure with a six-course
wine-pairing dinner by Dry Creek Kitchen in the intimate
Hotel Healdsburg Wine Library.
We reserve the right to substitute other artisan purveyors
based on season and availability.
